Q: What types of documents can you notarize?
We notarize a wide range of documents, including powers of attorney, affidavits, parental consent forms, real estate documents, and more. If you’re unsure whether your document requires notarization, feel free to contact us.
Q: Do I need to bring identification?
Yes, you’ll need a valid, government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, to verify your identity during the notarization process.
Q: What if my ID is expired or I can't find it?
In the state of Indiana, a government-issued photo ID can be used for notarization even if it is expired—as long as it expired within the past three (3) years.
If your ID is expired beyond that or you’re unable to locate it, Indiana law allows for the use of a credible witness who can personally vouch for your identity. The witness must know you personally, present their own valid ID, and be willing to take an oath or affirmation in front of the notary.
Q: Can you notarize documents for someone who isn't present?
No, the signer must be physically present during the notarization to verify their identity and willingness to sign the document.
Q: What are your hours of operation?
Our standard hours are M-F 7:00am-8:00pm, and Saturday/Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm.

Q: Do you offer mobile notary services?
Q: Can I just come to your office?
Bloomington Notary LLC operates exclusively as a mobile notary service, meaning we come to you. We do not have a public storefront or office location at this time. Appointments can be scheduled at your home, workplace, campus, or another convenient location.

Q: What counties do you travel to?
Bloomington Notary proudly serves all of South-Central Indiana. Our online booking system currently supports appointments in Monroe, Owen, Greene, and Lawrence counties.

Q: Do you offer notary services for students?
Yes, we frequently assist students with notarizing documents such as parental consent forms, study abroad paperwork, and housing documents.
Q: Can you meet on campus?
We offer flexible scheduling and can meet at a location convenient for you, including campus areas.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, credit/debit cards, ApplePay, and digital payments such as Zelle or Venmo.

Q: Are you authorized to notarize real estate documents?
Yes, we are Indiana TPL licensed and experienced in notarizing real estate documents, including deeds, loan modifications, HELOC, and buyer/seller closing packages.
Q: Can you assist with loan signings?
Absolutely. We work with lenders, title companies, and individuals to facilitate loan signings, ensuring all documents are properly executed.
Apostille & International Documents
Q: Do you provide apostille services?
Yes, we can assist with obtaining apostilles for documents intended for use in foreign countries. We’ll guide you through the process to ensure your documents are properly authenticated.
Q: What documents typically require an apostille?
Common documents include birth certificates, marriage certificates, powers of attorney, and educational records.
Q: My documents must be translated. Can you help?
Yes! While Bloomington Notary LLC does not provide in-house translation services, we can help coordinate certified translations as part of the apostille facilitation process. We’ll ensure the translation is completed in a format accepted by the appropriate authorities.
Q: Why do out-of-state and federal apostilles take longer than documents from Indiana?
Each state and federal agency has its own processing times, procedures, and submission requirements. Apostilles for documents originating outside Indiana must be sent to the Secretary of State in the state where the document was issued, and federal documents must go through the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C.
These agencies often experience longer turnaround times due to volume, mailing delays, or additional verification steps. While we streamline and monitor the process on your behalf, final processing speed depends on the specific agency handling your request.
